Challenges can show up in a student’s life in many different ways. Sometimes a student needs someone to help sort through a difficult situation, understand a university process, connect with accommodations, find legal guidance, report a concern or keep moving toward their goals and graduation.

Advocacy & Support resources help students take the next step when something feels confusing, stressful or hard to manage alone. Start with the pathway that sounds closest to what you need, then use the options listed to connect with the right office or service.

Advocacy & Support

I’m going through something and I’m not sure where to start.

You do not need to know the name of the right office before asking for help. If something is affecting your well-being, safety, academics or ability to keep moving forward, Student Advocacy & Support can help you talk through what is happening and identify possible next steps.

I experienced harm, violence, harassment or abuse. Where can I go?

If you have experienced sexual assault, relationship violence, stalking, harassment or another form of harm, support is available. You deserve to be heard, supported and connected with options that help you make decisions at your own pace.

The Center for Advocacy, Response & Education provides confidential advocacy and resources for students who have experienced interpersonal violence or other forms of harm. CARE can help students understand reporting options, safety planning, support resources and next steps.

I need accommodations or support for a disability.

Access matters. Students with disabilities, chronic health conditions, mental health conditions, temporary injuries or other access needs can work with Services for Students with Disabilities to explore reasonable accommodations and support for academic and campus life.

I received a conduct notice or need to understand a university process.

Being involved in a conduct process can feel stressful, but the process is also a chance to understand expectations, ask questions and participate responsibly. Student Conduct & Community Standards helps students navigate conduct processes, community expectations and situations that may have affected themselves, others or the campus community.

I need legal advice or help understanding a legal issue.

Legal questions can affect many parts of student life, from housing and leases to traffic issues, consumer concerns, employment, family matters or other personal situations. Student Legal Services provides legal advice and support to eligible students who need help understanding rights, responsibilities or possible next steps.

I’m parenting while attending college.

Student parents bring a lot of care, focus and determination to their NEBRASKA experience. Support can make it easier to balance classes, caregiving and daily routines while staying connected to campus and your goals.

I’m worried about another student.

When you are concerned about a student, you may notice changes in behavior, attendance, mood, communication, academic performance, personal safety or overall well-being. You do not need to diagnose the issue or solve it yourself. You can help connect the student with support.

Student Advocacy & Support (SAS) is a helpful starting point when a student may need outreach, guidance or connection to resources. The Student of Concern Form and Referral Form can help share concerns with the appropriate team so the student can be connected with support.
