UAAD selects Robin Bowman for Floyd S. Oldt Award

The University Association for Administrative Development (UAAD) presented Robin Bowman with the Floyd S. Oldt Award at its Founders’ Day luncheon on Feb. 15. The award recognizes employees who demonstrate exceptional service and dedication to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Our Nebraska celebrates inclusion

Our Nebraska, a series of events held March 6-10, gave students from all backgrounds the opportunity to discuss what it means to be diverse and how to create an inclusive campus and community.

Previously known as the Empowerment Forum, Our Nebraska offered events throughout an entire week rather than in a concentrated day-long seminar. Activities were sponsored by Student Affairs and the Office of Academic Support and Intercultural Services (OASIS) with co-sponsorship from the Diversity Council.

Two student affairs staff members' quilts displayed in museum show

As part of the 8th Annual UNL Employee and Retiree Quilt Show, two staff members from the Division of Student Affairs have their works on display. Kathlene Bateman, clerical assistant in University Housing, submitted three quilts, and Debbie Hendricks, executive secretary in the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, submitted two quilts.

Goodin named director of Services for Students with Disabilities

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln has named George “Sam” Goodin as director of Services for Students with Disabilities. Goodin, director of Disability Support Services at Southern Illinois University, will start his new role April 3.

University Housing moves to new office location

University Housing will be moving this week to their new office location on the third floor of the new Willa S. Cather Dining Complex at 530 N. 17th Street.

Departments will complete their move on Wed., April 13, however the office is open for business starting Monday, April 10. Those needing to come to the new location should enter the building at the south atrium entry and take the elevator to third floor.

Ivy Day tradition endures

On Saturday, April 8, the Innocents Society and the Black Masque Chapter of Mortar Board recognized new members, outgoing members and undergraduate scholarship recipients at the Champions Club before planting the ceremonial ivy on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus as part of the annual Ivy Day celebration.

Student achievements applauded at Student Impact Awards

On Thursday, April 6, Student Involvement honored outstanding contributions and efforts by Recognized Student Organizations (RSOs), RSO leaders and advisors at the Student Impact Awards.

Prestigious Award to One of Our Own

Congratulations to Deb Johnson, senior associate director at Campus Recreation, for earning the distinguished Carl A. Donaldson Award from the University Association for Administrative Development.

Lavender Graduation

Held April 21, the Lavender Graduation and Chancellor’s Awards for Outstanding Contributions to the GLBT Community honored achievements by members of the LGBTQA+ community at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

The ceremony honored six undergraduates, four master’s degree graduate students and two doctoral graduate students. All are graduating members of the LGBTQA+ community who received certificates and commemorative rainbow tassels. A complete participant list is provided below.

Schwartzkopf Awarded for Exemplary Service to Students

The UNL community showed appreciation for Linda Schwartzkopf’s years of exemplary service when she was honored with the James V. Griesen Exemplary Service to Students Award April 24 during the annual All-University Honors Convocation at the Lied Center for Performing Arts.
