Thursday, April 13, 2017 Battle of the DJs brings nightlife atmosphere to campus
On Tuesday, April 11, the Office of Academic Support and Intercultural Services (OASIS) hosted Battle of the DJs in the Centennial Room in the Nebraska Union as part of the JGMC/OASIS Week festivities.
Students danced, played games, enjoyed food and socialized while DJ Mengistu and the UNL DJ Club played and mixed tracks. The evening also included a performance from the UNL Hip Hop Dance Club.
“OASIS promotes a lot of diverse events that we wouldn’t have otherwise,” said Tristan Hilderbrand, president of the UNL Hip Hop Dance Club. “We’re really honored to be a part of this event tonight.”
This is the first time OASIS hosted the Battle of the DJs. OASIS Events Coordinate Ly Nguyen worked with a committee to bring the nightclub-like atmosphere to the Nebraska Union.
“Student[s] are always looking for something to do during the week,” said Nguyen. “We wanted to bring the Battle of the DJs event to them so they can get the vibe of what it feels like in the club [or at] parties but in ways that are safe for them.”
OASIS plans to host another Battle of the DJs in the future.
