Monday, January 29, 2024 $1,000 scholarship to recognize healthy decision-making, responsibility about alcohol use

The Laura Cockson Memorial Scholarship is named for a Nebraska student who died when a driver under the influence of alcohol struck the car in which she was riding. Recipients will demonstrate responsibility about alcohol use in their lives and lead by example. Feb 16, 2024 is the deadline to apply.

Among the highlights were "Showtime" in the Coliseum, the Traditions Race, a cornhole tournament, parade and the Cornstock Festival. The celebration culminated with a gridiron matchup between Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Purdue Boilermakers.

Saturday, October 28, 2023 Kotik, Kinney crowned homecoming royalty at Nebraska

Seniors Preston Kotik of Hooper and Hannah-Kate Kinney of Omaha have been crowned homecoming royalty at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.

As the Homecoming Events Coordinator for ASUN, Chrissy Gulseth fields questions and feedback from students to make sure their input is heard by the homecoming committee.

Chrissy Gulseth, a senior political science and history student from Omaha, has deepened her appreciation for the university’s impact by helping students across campus learn how to get involved in homecoming celebrations.

The Musical Chairs ride and Ferris wheel light up the East Stadium Plaza during the 2022 Cornstock Festival. The 2023 festival is 4 to 8 p.m. Oct. 27, again on the plaza. The event is free and open to the public. [Craig Chandler | University Communication and Marketing]

This year’s University of Nebraska–Lincoln homecoming week runs Oct. 23-28 and will carry the theme “Through These Gates: 100 Years of Saturdays at Memorial Stadium.”

The royalty winners will be elected by the student body in an online vote Oct. 25 and 26. They will be crowned Oct. 28 at halftime of the Nebraska vs. Purdue football game, which kicks off at 2:30 p.m. in Memorial Stadium.

The Nebraska-Wisconsin football game on Nov 18 at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, WI is designated as the season's Student Migration event, when Husker fans are encouraged to flock en masse to an away game. Through Oct 13, students can request tickets online at $55 each.
