Huskers interested in working alongside other individuals as advocates for student well-being, programs, and services on campus are encouraged to apply to serve on Campus Recreation Advisory Council or the University Health Center Student Advisory Board for the 2021–22 academic year.


Campus Recreation Advisory Council

The application is open until 5 p.m. March 18, 2021.

The advisory council is comprised of 12 undergraduate students and one graduate student. These thirteen individuals - along with three faculty/staff representatives - advise the campus recreation department about programming, services, and facilities. The group is charged with the responsibility for:

  • Hearing cases, judge the validity, and decide the appropriate action to be taken on all decisions appealed to it from the Director of Campus Recreation;
  • Advising the Campus Recreation staff as to changes in the interpretation of rules and policies governing specific Campus Recreation programs;
  • Assisting in developing Campus Recreation’s fiscal year budget requests;
  • Serving as a sounding board for all Campus Recreation programs and services;
  • Advising the Campus Recreation staff of needed additions/improvements to recreational sports facilities; and
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Campus Recreation.

University Health Center Student Advisory Board

The application is open until 11:59 p.m. March 26, 2021.

The board is comprised of 15 undergraduate students; applicants must be enrolled as a full-time student at UNL or UNMC College of Nursing (Lincoln Campus) and maintain a minimum 2.​0 cumulative GPA. The group's mission and scope includes :

  • Representing the University of Nebraska-Lincoln student body with regard to the health and wellness of the university community;
  • Assist with the planning, evaluation and implementation of programs of the University Health Center, Counseling and Psychological Services and Big Red Resilience and Well-Being;
  • Engaging students in important discussions about health and well-being;
  • Using social media, personal interactions, on-campus events, and other marketing tools to foster a campus-wide conversation about mental and physical health and their importance for success in academic and professional endeavors; and
  • Serving as a review committee (when necessary) for new programs or services as requested by University Health Center administrators.
