Student orgs have until September 1 to apply for funds from $150,000 grant

Officers and leaders of Recognized Student Organizations (RSOs) are encouraged to apply for the Abbot “We Give Blood” Grant to expand their organization’s impact in the Husker community.  

The funds are to be used for projects that directly support student or community health and well-being in the areas of emotional, physical, or social well-being. 


Grant amounts can vary from a minimum of $500 to a maximum of $7,500. In total, up to $150,000 will be awarded to approved applications.  

 
Project ideas that would be considered for funding (but not limited to): 

  • No cost bike repair project at campus recreation 

  • Bike giveaways to students 

  • Running challenge with gate analysis and running shoe resources 

  • Student organic farm 

  • Student campus speaker series focused on emotional wellbeing 

  • Pop-up relaxation stations 

  • Group travel to attend wellbeing related event, conference, etc. 

  • Craft & creative expression series 

 

September 1, 2025 is the application deadline for consideration in the initial preferred review. Organizations can continue to submit applications until October 6, which is the final deadline for review.

The grant funds are a portion of the $1 million award provided to UNL as the inaugural recipient of the We Give Blood Drive competition sponsored by Abbott.
