Update: This article was updated Feb. 15, 2022 for the addition of the Publication Board.
Nebraska Unions, First Gen Nebraska, OASIS, Campus Recreation, and Publications are each recruiting Husker students to serve in leadership advisory roles for the 2022-2023 academic year.
Qualifications, a description of each board's purpose, and the application process for each are as follows:
Union Board
An advisory body for the Nebraska Union, Nebraska East Union, and the Jackie Gaughan Multicultural Center. Twelve one-year positions will be filled on this board.
Members work on a variety of assignments pertaining to the Union, including space assignments for clubs and orgs in the Union and helping with creating COVID guidelines. The board has some say in almost any project that deals with the Union.
February 20 is the deadline to apply. Both full-time undergraduate and graduate students are eligible.
OASIS Student Advisory Board
This board is committed to advocacy and leadership on campus. Members attend weekly meetings and organize a variety of well-known large-scale events, including Fiesta on the Green, Love Gala, and Lip Sync Battle.
Apply now, as the application will close very soon.
First Gen Nebraska Advisory Board
The First Gen Nebraska advisory board meets three times a semester during the academic year to provide feedback to the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor regarding how to best support first-generation students, staff and faculty. In addition, board members commit to active participation in first-gen events and pledge to co-lead and support related campus initiatives.
The term of service is for two consecutive academic years. Applications are due Feb. 22.
Campus Recreation Advisory Council
This council advises the Campus Rec department on needed changes, additions, and improvements to the programs and facilities related to the Campus Rec Center, the Outdoor Adventures Center and the Rec & Wellness Center. The council also assists in the development of annual budget requests.
Thirteen one-year positions will be filled for the next academic year. Any student paying UPFF (University Program & Facility Fees) is eligible to serve on the council.
Deadline to apply is March 22.
Publication Board
Members meet monthly to help forge publication policy and approve budgets for the Daily Nebraskan and the Dailyer, as well as oversee the student fees used to support the printing of the two organizations. Additionally, the board is integral in choosing the editors of the publications each year.
Currently, two-of-five student positions are open on the board. It is recommended for applicants to have an interest in journalism and/or business or an overall interest in the DN’s role on campus.
A term on the board is for one academic year. If a member is chosen in the middle of the year, their term will conclude at the end of the second semester served.
Applications remain open until vacant positions are filled.
