Tuesday, May 7, 2024 Volunteer Digest: 5 nonprofits you can help this summer

During the 2023-24 academic year, Student Leadership, Involvement, and Community Engagement partnered with 60 nonprofits to organize and coordinate volunteer opportunities.
The need for volunteers continues into Summer 2024.
Here are five nonprofits in Lincoln seeking groups and individuals to help address community needs.
Community Action Partnership of Lancaster and Saunders Counties
Community Action of Lancaster and Saunders Counties and the Early Head Start located in Lincoln, Nebraska is currently seeking volunteers to accompany classrooms ages 0-3 years on stroller walks to local parks.
Volunteers are needed from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on any weekday Monday-Friday.

Food Bank of Lincoln
The mission of the food bank is to alleviate hunger in Southeast Nebraska.
Huskers have the opportunity to organize food at the Hunger Solution Center and distribute items to community members during mobile food pantries.

Center for People
This nonprofit provides services and programs to low-income people that address their basic needs and help them achieve economic independence.
During the summer, Huskers have the opportunity to organize a food pantry and assist individuals with navigating the center between 9:45 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Habitat For Humanity
Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.
Students will assist with construction projects including hanging drywall and painting homes from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Lancaster County Super Fair
Volunteer to help during the Super Fair event happening August 1–10, 2024, located at the Sandhills Global Event Center in Lincoln.
Opportunities include working concessions coordinating parking, and enjoying entertainment while ticket scanning for 6 different concerts, demo derby, tractor pulls, and bull riding.
