Monday, December 5, 2022 Take a 'brain break' to boost your focus on studying
You have a lot going on right now - exams, finishing group projects, packing for winter break, and maybe a bit of holiday shopping, too. It can really catch up to you, and it's a good idea to take a step back every couple hours. Taking a quick five- or ten-minute break can help boost your focus.
- Go for a brisk walk outdoors. The fresh air will do wonders for your mood and help you wake up.
- Take a quick power nap. Research shows that around 20 minutes is the optimal time for you to refresh without feeling drowsy the rest of the day.
- Make a smoothie. It's essential to stay hydrated and full, so a nutrient-packed smoothie is a perfect way to go and doesn't take long to prepare.
- Have an impromptu dance party. Just dancing in your room to your favorite music will relieve loads of tension and distract you from studies for a minute.
- Do some stretching. It'll get you moving for a bit and keep you from getting too uncomfortable sitting at your desk, plus it's great for your health.
- Play a board game with your family or roommates. Breaking out an old favorite game is a simple way to have fun, interact with others for a while, and keep yourself from looking at the computer.
- Call a friend or family member. It's important to keep connected, even if you're spending long hours sitting in one room. Chatting for a couple of minutes with someone you love will be a refreshing break for the both of you.
