One of the largest student-run fundraisers of the year is happening this week. Join for your chance to win prizes and watch as students volunteer to have their heads shaved in support of childhood cancer research at NRHH’s Shave for the Brave event. Keep reading for more featured events April 1-5.

Battle of the Halls

All Week | Various Locations

Join the ultimate cross-residence hall competition. Throughout the week, the Residence Hall Association will be holding events and activities for residence hall students to attend and earn points for their hall.

Events include:

  • Comedian Dan Donohue at 7 p.m. April 1 in Nebraska Union Centennial Room.
  • Dodgeball Tournament from 6 to 8 p.m. April 3 at the 14th & Avery tennis courts.
  • Grocery Bingo & Shave for the Brave from 6 to 9 p.m. April 4 in Willa Cather Red Cloud.
  • Battle of the Bands and Food Trucks from 6 to 8 p.m. April 5 on the 17th St. Green Space.

Cultural Learning Luncheon Series - China’s Food, Fashion, & Culture

11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. April 2 | Howard L. Hawks Hall, Room 102

Learn all about Chinese cuisine, fashion, and culture. A mini Chinese fashion show will take place as part of this informative and engaging event and food will be served. This session, led by Ling Harris, Assistant Professor of Accountancy, will help you expand your cultural aptitude and competence.

This event is open to all UNL students, staff, and faculty.

Space is limited and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. RSVP to attend.

Workshop: Perfecting the Pitch

5 to 6 p.m. April 2 | Howard L. Hawks Hall, Room 227

Learn the art of storytelling and get tips about what to include to set yourself up for success when you're pitching a business idea - or yourself. No RSVP required.

MixxedFit & Mocktails

8 to 8:50 p.m. April 2 | Campus Recreation Center, Fitness Studio

A people-inspired fitness program that combines explosive dance movement and boot camp toning with all types of music from hip hop to pop fresh upbeat and familiar utilizing repetitive and easy-to-follow moves. Mocktails will be provided after the class.

Dr. Raven the Science Maven Talk

3:30 to 4:30 p.m. April 3 | Nebraska Union Swanson Auditorium

Dr. Raven (a.k.a. “the Science Maven”) inspires us on #STEM through her talks and social media presence. Dr. Raven is a molecular biologist and science educator with a unique mission: to decode the complexities of science and make it not only engaging but also relatable through her thoughtfully designed educational content.

Baxter will join Jocelyn Bosley, research impact coordinator in the Office of Research and Economic Development, for an informal conversation about her STEM journey; challenges and opportunities for creating a more diverse and inclusive STEM community; and creative strategies for making science engaging and relevant to a wider audience.

The event is free and open the public.

Women of Color Mixer

6 to 7:30 p.m. April 3 | Nebraska Union, Regency Suite

A casual mixer to connect all with a greater network in an affirmative community.

Free to attend. Light refreshments served.
