Thursday, August 10, 2017 Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity earns national honor
The Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln was honored with the Robert Adger Smythe Award, the highest undergraduate honor from the organization's headquarters. The award signifies that the Nebraska chapter is in the top 10 percentile of high performing chapters across the United States and Canada.
The Smythe Award, named after Junior Founder Robert Adger Smythe, is given out once a year. Chapters who receive this honor have achieved academic excellence, contributed to their community through service and philanthropic events, distinguished themselves as leaders on campus, and lived by the values of the fraternity.
A press release from Pi Kappa Alpha recognized the Nebraska chapter for an outstanding 3.3 GPA, 100 percent involvement in campus activities, an exceptional new member retention rate, contributing over 10,012 hours and $39,410 to community service and their philanthropy, and ranking first in fraternity intramural athletics.
In addition to the Smythe Award, the chapter also earned the Raymond L. Orians Chapter Excellence Award, an honor recognizing overall chapter excellence.
