University of Nebraska-Lincoln senior Brianna Ridenour received the NASPA IV-W Undergraduate Rising Star Award at the regional conference held in Lincoln Nov. 7-9.
Ridenour is a familiar face around the Nebraska campus thanks to her involvements and leadership in the Executive Council of Multicultural Organizations, the Multicultural Business Student Association, the UNL Police Advisory Board, the ASUN Appeals and Conduct Board, the University Honors Ambassadors, the Nebraska Women’s Leadership Network and her role as a Student Strengths Coach in the College of Business.
She works as a student office assistant in the College of Business and previously worked in the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. She has volunteered as a steering committee member and conversation guide for Husker Dialogues and served as a group leader for The Big Event. Her past accolades include work with the Executive Council of Multicultural Organizations and recognition on Franco’s List for being a student of character and integrity.
Ridenour’s nominators describe her as a thoughtful, smart and committed young woman who wants to lead change and serve as a role model.
“She is an activist in every sense of the word … She wants to be better. She wants her peers to be better,” said Veronica Riepe, director of Student Involvement.
The Undergraduate Rising Star Award annually recognizes one undergraduate student in each state of the 10-state region who is involved in campus activities, demonstrates campus leadership, works on campus in student affairs and has intentions of pursuing an advanced degree in a related field.
