Low-key and casual social activities can introduce you to new hobbies and cultures. More importantly, these activities infuse FUN and respite into your busy college life.
This week, make time for yourself to enjoy food, conversation, the outdoors, films, and poetry at these fantastic events being offered to Husker students.
Intro to Stand-up Paddleboarding (SUP)
September 14 | 5 to 7 p.m. | Outdoor Adventures Center
Enjoy an evening on a nearby lake in southeast Nebraska. Learn basic SUPing skills, relax on the beach and connect with participants. Gear, transportation and instruction are included.
Cost is $15 for UNL students. Pre-register online to secure a spot.

First Gen Share-A-Meal
September 15 | 11:30 to 1:30 p.m. | Willa Cather Dining Complex, Lark Room
First-generation Huskers are invited to share lunch with more first-generation college students at this one-of-a-kind casual midday event. Stop by at your leisure to grab a bite to eat, connect with fellow Huskers and mingle with staff and faculty who were once first-generational students too. First-gen offers a community and an involved network to help you succeed at NEBRASKA.

Frankie Soto
September 14 | 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. | Nebraska Union Swanson Auditorium
Award-winning poet and author Frankie A Soto is a two-time winner of the Multicultural Poet of the Year award from the National Spoken Word Poetry Awards in Chicago. He speaks and writes about many topics ranging from social justice to mental health. He will be performing spoken-word.
This event is FREE for UNL students, faculty, & staff with Event Pass. $5 for the public.
