Thursday, February 11, 2021 Keep yourself occupied indoors during frosty weather
Cold temperatures can be expected for the next few days, and you'll probably find yourself reluctant to leave the house. When boredom strikes, it can be difficult to find ways to entertain yourself. Here are a few activities to have fun without venturing outdoors.
- Get a head start on your spring cleaning.
Being cooped up inside means you may start to notice what's disorganized about your space. Begin cleaning out your closet, reorganizing your desk or doing a deep-clean of your living space. This will help refresh your mind and leave you feeling much more organized once the weather warms up again. - Fit in an at-home workout.
Luckily, there are plenty of ways to exercise in the comfort of your own room. Check out this website that offers beginner, intermediate and advanced home workout tips. UNL Campus Recreation also has workout videos where you can find an exercise form that works for you. - Build the coziest home movie night.
You can watch a movie or TV show the usual way any night, but avoiding dangerous temperatures for days on end is a great opportunity to level up your movie night. Build a fort out of your couch, blankets or under a lofted bed and scatter tons of pillow around the space. Prepare a feast of classic movie snacks, turn out the lights and enjoy an extra-special film. - Finally cook that new recipe.
Odds are, there is something you've been meaning to cook but you lack the time or energy. Staying inside is a perfect chance to brush up on your cooking or baking skills. Follow a recipe video from the Campus Recreation's Wellness Kitchen, or challenge yourself to create a dish using only what is currently in your kitchen. - Make some easy artwork.
Collages are a simple way to get you creative juices flowing and express your personality or decorate a room. Find some old magazines and poster board to create a collage masterpiece. If you want to do something digitally, look up photos or prints on Pinterest and create a desktop wallpaper collage using the free website Canva.
