Since Oct. 8, the Women’s Center at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln has been celebrating the UNL Week Without Violence. The center joined efforts with both on- and off-campus organizations to spread awareness of different forms of violence and make a stand against abuse.

Thursday, September 22, 2016 Taking Action to Save Lives

Students dominated an audience of more than 80 members of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln community who completed training for the QPR Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper Program on Sept. 20-21. Sponsored by the Women’s Center and the LGBTQA+ Resource Center, the voluntary training provided education on the warning signs and situational clues to take action in saving a life.

Monday, April 11, 2016 Conference Promotes Exploring Masculinity

For the second year in a row, the Men at Nebraska Conference invited conversation around the roles masculinities play in men’s’ lives. Held April 8, the conference included a short film screening, breakout sessions, a poster exhibition and a keynote address by Dr. Eric Lueshen. A Husker football alumnus, Lueshen shared his story of defying stereotypes as the first openly gay Division 1 college football player.

Hosted March 5 -18, 2016, the event included movie screenings, panel discussions, art exhibits, keynote lectures, athletic events and technology centered event – all centered around the mission of empowering women.
