Caring for a child while attending college can present unique challenges — that’s why a new support group from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Counseling and Psychological Services will offer encouragement and education to parenting students who are working toward a degree.

Monday, January 31, 2022 Demystifying group therapy at CAPS

You may have heard of “group” and wondered what the buzz was all about. Group therapy is a term commonly used by mental health practitioners to help facilitate constructive conversations among individuals who share similar experiences. At Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), all participants are UNL students.

Through group sessions facilitated by a professional at CAPS, students can learn from others, feel supported, gain insight, practice new behaviors and increase self-esteem. All CAPS therapy groups are free to students who have paid student fees.

Friday, December 3, 2021 Plan Ahead: Commit to the MLK Week of Service in January

Join fellow Huskers Jan. 18–21 for a volunteer service project to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy of commitment to serving others. Student volunteers are needed to sort food donations and pack 2,000 rice and bean meals for distribution to feed the hungry across Nebraska.

The four-night Destress Fest will happen Dec. 6-9, 2021 and is free for all Husker students.

On Oct. 29, the LGBTQA+ Center held their annual drag show, Night of the Living Drag. The show was packed with many people standing in the back as all the seats were filled.
