Sunday, March 28, 2021 Event approvals open to dances

As a result of changing Directed Health Measures and related university policies, restrictions on numerous activities this spring have loosened over the course of the semester. This includes activities like intramural sports, banquets, philanthropies, and now dances.

A committee of eight student leaders and three staff members developed the new policies to increase potential social engagement while aligning with requirements established by the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department.

Thursday, March 11, 2021 UNL counselor discusses increase in eating disorder concerns during pandemic

Jenifer Manstedt, counselor at Counseling & Psychological Services and eating disorder coordinator, said she has noticed more University of Nebraska-Lincoln students reporting concerns with eating patterns and body image issues during the COVID-19 pandemic than prior to the pandemic.

Wednesday, March 10, 2021 Food, personal hygiene items sought for Husker Pantry's spring food drive

Last summer, the pantry distributed nearly 6,000 items to students every month. The goal of the current drive is to collect 2,021 items during the ten-day period March 22-31 to build up reserve inventory so Huskers have uninterrupted service during the upcoming summer.

Fresh Check Day is March 10, 2021. Big Red Resilience and Well-being will have Instagram activities from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. CST.

The transition to college can be challenging. During difficult times, one’s coping strategies can be depleted, sometimes resulting in changes to control eating patterns and/or perception of appearance. During Eating Disorders Awareness Week, Feb. 22-25, the UNL Nebraska Eating Disorder Network Student Association (UNL NEDN) invites all Huskers to learn about the warning signs and available resources for disordered eating or eating disorder behaviors.

In a 24-hour period Feb. 17-18, the 2021 Glow Big Red crowdfunding event set a new record by generating nearly 4,000 gifts totaling about $436,000 in support of University of Nebraska–Lincoln scholarships and programs.

Counseling and Psychological Services and the Center for Advocacy, Response and Education has launched a new sexual assault and abuse process group for survivors of color.

Over the course of the pandemic, visits to Nebraska’s Husker Pantry have increased by 30%. Huskers can help provide a meal to a student in need by donating to the upcoming Glow Big Red giving campaign.

Thursday, February 11, 2021 Winter chill shifts COVID-19 re-entry testing indoors

Due to anticipated frigid temperatures, the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s saliva-based COVID-19 testing is moving indoors Feb. 11-13.
