COVID-19 Safety: For in-person events, students should be prepared to show their “Access Granted” status in the Safer Community app as part of the check-in process. Each person must wear a face covering and appropriate physical distancing is required throughout the event. Hand sanitizer is available. You should not attend an in-person event if you are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms.

Evening Stand Up Paddle
April 26 | 5 to 7:30 p.m. | Outdoor Adventures Center
Join Outdoor Adventures for an evening jaunt to the edge of town to explore a local lake by kayak or stand-up paddleboard. See what Lincoln has to offer, meet some good people, and learn a few paddling skills along the way. Located right outside of Lincoln, this lake is a scenic spot to paddle and camp.
DeStress Fest

Finals preparation week can be a stressful time for students, however, it’s important to take a break from a moment for self-care. DeStress Fest is a week of opportunities to step away from studying for a moment to engage in fun activities.
Drop-in Citation Help

Denim Day
April 28 | 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. | Anywhere
The Center for Advocacy, Response and Education encourages the university community to participate in Denim Day and Sexual Assault Awareness Month by wearing denim and posting a photo on social media using the hashtag #UNLSAAM or tagging @care_at_unl on Instagram. Denim Day began 22 years ago following the rape of an 18-year-old woman in Italy. While appealing his sentence from prison, the 45-year-old perpetrator claimed consensual sex took place. The Italian Supreme Court overturned the conviction, released the perpetrator and supported this claim because they said the victim’s jeans were so tight she must have helped get them off, implying she did give consent. The first Denim Day was hosted in April 1999 in Los Angeles and has annually grown throughout the world.
Pop-up Well-being
April 28 | 12 to 2 p.m. | Nebraska East Union and other locations
Students can interact with well-being student leaders at pop-ups at several locations on City and East Campus to learn more about coaching, the 9 dimensions of well-being, self-care practices, and more. The stations will include fun prizes, including Big Red Resilience & Well-Being masks for students who engage in a physically-distanced mini coaching sessions to learn about well-being. Look for bright red well-being pop-up chairs in each location, designed for the mini coaching sessions.
Anxiety Toolbox

This weekly drop-in group is for all UNL students struggling with ongoing or short-term anxiety symptoms. The group will help students build their coping skills tool box for anxiety by focusing on techniques such as mindfulness, breathing, and reframing of anxious thoughts.
When Appreciating Diversity is Not Enough

The biggest barrier to equity and justice in many cases is not a lack of diversity and inclusion effort, but rather the tendency to mistake diversity and inclusion efforts with equity and justice commitments. This session will explore how to prioritize real change over optics in equity, diversity, and inclusion commitments. Join UPC Nebraska and the Global Nebraska Coalition on Diversity and Inclusion for this special presentation by Dr. Paul Gorski, founder of the Equity Literacy Institute. Dr. Gorski has more than 20 years of experience helping educators, nonprofit workers and others strengthen their equity efforts. He has published more than 70 articles and has worked on twelve books on various aspects of educational equity
Kirtan Yoga

Positive vibes happen when everyone is moving and breathing together. Join this socially distanced outdoor Kirtan yoga class to see the magic for yourself. A Conversation with Bill Nye

Best known as Bill Nye the Science Guy, Bill’s wit and enthusiasm has garnered 18 Emmy awards. Bill is also an author and frequent speaker on topics of global importance including climate change, evolution, population, space exploration, and STEM education. He is a steadfast champion of the unwavering value of critical thinking, science, and reason. In this conversation with UNL hosts, Bill will address issues of sustainability, climate change, and how we can all be better stewards of this planet we call home. Cooking with Communities

Cooking with Communities is a cultural food demonstration that aims to educate participants about how food is an integral part of cultural communities. During this session, Chef Charles Brewer will explain the significance of the food he’s cooking while discussing his journey to owning a business in Lincoln, NE. Assistant Professor of Practice Sabine Zempleni of Nutrition and Health Sciences will also lead a discussion around food insecurities and marginalized populations. Recipes will include jerk chicken with sauce, jollof rice (an African version of jambalaya) and pineapple mango coleslaw
Coffee Bike Ride
April 30 | 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. | Outdoor Adventures Center
Want to explore Lincoln and make new friends, but need your morning coffee? This is the trip for you. This will be a relaxed morning ride leaving from the Outdoor Adventures Center showcasing some bike paths around town. During the ride, participants will find a good place to meet and make some coffee, tea or other morning beverages, then head back to campus in time for all but the earliest classes. Bikes, helmets and drink are provided.
Evening of Dance
April 28 | 7:30 to 9 p.m. | Lied Center for Performing Arts
an eclectic concert of work by guest artists Lauren Simpson, Gayle Rocz and Melissa Templeton, along with faculty artists Hye-Won Hwang and Susan Ourada. There will also be several superb student choreographed works. All tickets are free and will be assigned socially-distant general admission at the door.
Canadian Brass
April 29 and 30 | 7:30 p.m. | Lied Center for Performing Arts
Originally scheduled for December 3, 2020, the world’s most famous brass quintet will now make their return to the Lied Center this spring. Celebrating their 50th Season, the Canadian Brass have performed in nearly every major concert hall in the world and have been seen by millions of viewers on The Tonight Show, Entertainment Tonight and PBS. From renaissance and baroque music to Dixieland, ragtime, and Broadway show tunes, enjoy a concert of the greatest hits by this virtuosic ensemble.
Bike n' Paddle
May 1 | 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. | Outdoor Adventures Center
This trip will include both riding bikes and spending an afternoon on the lake. The day will start out with a bike ride from the Outdoor Adventures Center through the heart of Lincoln, highlighting Lincoln’s bike trails, to Holmes Lake where there will be stand-up paddleboards and kayaks waiting for you. Once everyone has explored the lake by boat, participants will head back to the Outdoor Adventures Center by bike. No previous experience is required and biking and paddling gear is provided.
